The exhibition marks Ramer’s first gallery exhibition and includes charcoal works on paper, photography, textile work and mixed media works which provide insight into the artist’s exploration of the healing power of art.
In Ramer’s manifesto, she opens up about her lifelong struggle with obsessive compulsive disorder and anorexia, and describes how creating art helped her find strength and heal. The show displays a selection of pieces which Ramer has created over the past four years.
She writes, “I use charcoals, I use duct tape, I use photography, I use fabric. Each piece is focused on perfection. I’m drawn to line work. Why? Because a line can be perfect. But what I am showcasing isn’t perfect. And that’s ok. It’s me. Making art helped me heal. And without art I wouldn’t be where or who I am today.”
